Recycling at Home
Just because plastic film waste can’t be recycled at home, doesn’t mean you can’t participate in protecting the environment in whatever little way you can.
Below are just some of the ways you can help protect the environment:
- Do not litter or throw your trash on to the streets
- Participate in environmental clean-up activities
- Educate yourself and your family about the different types of plastic waste
- Segregate the different types of plastic waste at home; wash where necessary
- Take them to your nearest drop off area or recycler for onward recycling
Recycling for your business
At MPB, we believe that environmental responsibility is a shared responsibility and we therefore encourage businesses to collect and clean post consumer polythene waste and deliver to us for recycling purposes. Businesses should put at the forefront the concepts of reduce, re-use, and recycle when it comes to plastic packaging.
This provides them with a number of direct and indirect benefits;

- Businesses are able to demonstrate their commitment to environmental sustainability to their stakeholders.
What businesses can do

- Educate themselves and other stakeholders about the different types of plastic waste
- Segregate the different types of plastic waste at work; wash where necessary
- Engage licensed waste collectors to ensure recyclable plastic waste is taken to waste recycling facilities and not dumped in landfills or water bodies
Recycling for the Community
Societies’ perceptions on the day to day use and discard of plastic is a problem we must all be willing to accept and work towards tackling. With support from the communities around us, efforts geared towards changing behaviors and attitudes on plastic waste and recycling can bear fruit by using a combination of methods such as:
- Improved education in schools and learning institutions on correct use and disposal of plastics;
o Demand educational institutions implement waste management education as part of teaching. - Improved waste collection and segregation of plastics;
o Demand service delivery in the form of waste collection by your local municipalities.
o Set up a private plastic collection and recycling centre in your community in collaboration with local and central governments.
MPB Cares…
We are working towards the development of our MPB Cares Community whose roles will involve some of the following functions:
- Environmental clean-up activities
- Sports sponsorship for the youth
- Internship and mentorship opportunities
- Volunteering at Orphanages and retirement homes
- Helping the hungry and the homeless in the community around us
